Grid maker

Draw and colour grids of any size.

For checking your work after you’ve tried it yourself.

Step 1:
Choose the size

Up to 30 by 30 shows every square; bigger grids show the edges.

Step 2:
Colour it

Pick a pattern, paint, or lay tiles on it.

Step 3:
Read the counts

Exact counts for every colour, then Do it by hand.
What it does.
Makes grids of any size up to a million by a million, colours them with patterns or by hand, places tiles like dominoes on them, and counts each colour exactly, including the part hidden past the dots.
When it helps.
Checking a colouring or tiling argument you made on paper.
What it won’t do.
Tiles work on grids up to 30 by 30, and Fill the rest never searches for a perfect tiling.
Example.
On an 8 by 8 chessboard, every domino covers one square of each colour.
