Graph sketcher

Plot functions and look at their shape.

For checking your work after you’ve tried it yourself.

Step 1:
Type a graph

Like x^2 - 4, y < |x|, x^2 + y^2 = 25 or r = 1 + cos(t).

Step 2:
Move around

Drag, scroll or pinch, and use the sliders for a, b, c and k.

Step 3:
Read the facts

Crossings, turning points and meeting points, then Do it by hand.
What it does.
Draws up to 10 graphs at once: functions, shaded inequalities, lines, points, equations in x and y, and polar and parametric curves. It lists where each graph crosses the axes, its peaks and dips, asymptotes and symmetry, and every point where two graphs meet.
When it helps.
Checking a sketch you drew, or seeing roughly where solutions lie before finding them exactly.
What it won’t do.
Points it finds are approximate, marked ≈\approx. Exact values need algebra.
Example.
y=x3−3xy = x^3 - 3x has a peak at (−1,2)(-1, 2) and a dip at (1,−2)(1, -2).
-6-5-4-3-2-1123456-4-3-2-11234
Drag (or two fingers on a trackpad) to move. Scroll wheel, pinch or + and − to zoom. Arrow keys work too.

Type a function of x, or try an example.
